Highlight of the week:
I can not believe that I am already writing about my fourth week here in France. In some ways it feels like I just got off the plane yesterday, and in others it feels like I have been here for ages. But I know that time is only going to go by faster and I can't take anytime for granted.
This week I have been struggling to find balance between taking everything in and doing activities with friends but also making sure I am spending enough time studying. The primary reason I am here is to take classes and learn French, however there is so much more to a study abroad experience then just the classes. This week I have been working a lot on balancing my travels, classes, studying, and hanging out with my friends.
Here are some which snapshots of my week:
Taking an hour over my lunch break to participate in a French conversation table to practice speaking with other international students.
I finally went up in the bubbles to the Bastille for the first time. They just started running on February 1st and everyone says it is a necessity when in Grenoble. It was a short ride and the view of the river and streets were amazing.
Cheese tasting! My resident director here in France put together a French cheese tasting for us. I love cheese and I had a blast. We had goat cheese covered in ashes, mountain cheese, and cheeses local to the Grenoble area. It is difficult for me to say, but I was sick of cheese by the end of it.
Eating the famous French tacos. It is hard to describe but it is amazing. And there are French fries in the middle! Highly recommend if you are ever in France.
Went snowshoeing for the first time on the mountain Chamrousse in the Alps. It was difficult at first getting used to walking with the snowshoes connected to your boots but it was fun once you got the hang of it. Luckily no one fell off the mountain. The view at the top was amazing. Coming from Iowa I had never seen anything like this.
Sauri's sleepy face :)
